Revisiting Centuries Past
“Brca village in Montenegro is an example of how a village, shaped according to human needs and in harmony with the environment, may have all the elements of a modern town. The village layout is the precursor of urban morphology.“  Ranko Radović.
The lessons to be learned from traditional architecture in Montenegro, should be borne in mind by every responsible, contemporary builder, and the messages of traditional architecture should be taken into account by all.

How else can we continue to exist in our own country, our home and our  culture, if we fail to recognise the community spirit that lived for centuries? If we look back at our past, we will see the magic, history, love and near-pinnacle of human spirit that existed in these areas for centuries.

Some great individuals of local origin attempted through their exceptional lives to preserve the essence of ancient Montenegro and pass it on, outside their country. Thus, Professor Ranko Radović, one of the greatest architects and theoreticians of architecture in former Yugoslavia, on many an occasion with his formidable and renowned lectures, wished to bring this wealth of knowledge closer to us.
